We are pleased to announce that the 3rd Guangzhou International Forum on Finance (GZIFF 2020), successfully hosted by the School of Economics of Guangzhou College of Commerce took place when the Covid-19 epidemic is effectively under control. It has been brought to our attention that during the epidemic, Fintech plays a significant role in the daily business operation and economic recovery: hence the future development of Fintech becoming a heated topic both in academia and in industry, along with series of financial forums activities gradually returning to normal in universities across the country. From November 19th to 22nd, 2020, GZIFF 2020 and ongoing conferences were held in the school library as scheduled. Furthermore, actively responding to the call of the government’s Covid-19 epidemic prevention policy, participants wore masks during the meetings. The purposes of the conferences are to raise the awareness of the concept "Fintech Transforming the Future" and to provide a networking platform for teachers and students; so that they can broaden their horizons in the theoretical knowledge of Fintech and deepen their understanding of the current development of the financial industry. GZIFF 2020, accepted manuscripts in English only, and the submission was open to all teachers in Guangzhou College of Commerce. A total number of 253 papers were received, of which 23 papers were submitted by teachers of other schools, and the others were submitted by teachers of the host college. The manuscripts were peer-reviewed by two to three reviewers, and the contributors earnestly revised their manuscripts and gave timely feedback according to the reviewers. After several rounds of feedback and revisions, 51 papers were accepted finally. GZIFF has an influential thinktank. The guest speakers came from well-known universities in Southern China. Professors shared their unique insights in the advanced development of financial technology, green credit, small loans, Ant loans, promotion of green finance and sustainable finance, financial management innovation, and the recent suspension of Ant Financials’ IPO on November 5, 2020. The forum has not only broadened the mind of teachers and students but also strengthened contacts between professionals and academics. At the same time, in the context of our country’s financial reform and development, the forum has encouraged professionals to seize the opportunity to better understand the economic and financial policies and push the frontier of knowledge both in financial theory and quantitative financial research methods. The GZIFF 2020 highlights the theme and enriches the contents of the conferences, reflecting from the perspectives of organization, technology, and the insights delivered. It also provides a theoretical foundation and innovative and development ideas for many scholars and professionals and plays a positive role in encouraging close communication and coordination between academia and industry.
